Ontario Yankees Join CPBL as First Expansion Organization in New Prospect Division

The Canadian Premier Baseball League (CPBL) is proud to announce the addition of the Ontario Yankees as the first expansion organization to join the league's newly established Prospect Division.

The Ontario Yankees will begin competition in the CPBL by fielding teams in the 14U and 16U Prospect Divisions. In as well in 2027, the organization's 18U team will join the league  as a provisional member of the CPBL's 18U Premier Division, marking another significant step in the Yankees' long-term commitment to providing elite developmental opportunities for their athletes.

The addition represents an important milestone for the CPBL as it continues to grow and strengthen its player development model by partnering with organizations that share its commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

"We are excited to welcome the Ontario Yankees as the first expansion organization to join the CPBL's new Prospect Division," said CPBL President Chris Robinson. "Bringing in an organization with a strong history of player development is exactly the direction we want to continue taking our league.

"Under the leadership of President Nigel Wilson, the Ontario Yankees bring a tremendous amount of experience and a genuine passion for developing players. Nigel has made a significant impact on baseball in Ontario over the years, and we're excited to have him and the entire Ontario Yankees organization become part of the CPBL.

"We're confident they will be a great addition to the league and look forward to seeing the opportunities and competition they help create for our players and member organizations."

The Ontario Yankees have earned a strong reputation throughout Ontario for their commitment to developing players in a positive, competitive environment. Led by President Nigel Wilson, the organization has helped numerous athletes advance to the next levels of the game through its emphasis on skill development, character, and a player-first philosophy.

The creation of the Prospect Division reflects the CPBL's ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for emerging organizations dedicated to long-term player development. The addition of the Ontario Yankees further strengthens that vision by welcoming an organization whose values align closely with the league's mission.

The Yankees' participation at the 14U and 16U Prospect levels, along with the planned introduction of their 18U program as a provisional member of the Premier Division, establishes a clear pathway for athletes to compete within the CPBL while continuing their development against some of the province's top competition.
