OBJ's Ryan McDonagh signs with Kansas City Royals

On the heels of the inaugural Canadian Premier Arizona Fall Tour, RHP Ryan McDonagh of the Ontario Blue Jays signed a $425,000 deal with the Kansas City Royals as an undrafted free agent over the past weekend.

McDonagh, a Milton native, had an impressive outing against the San Francisco Giants on day 2 of the trip flashing a fastball up to 95 mph while giving up one hit and zero runs over two innings while striking out 3. All with Royals scouts in attendance.

Extremely happy for Ryan and his family. This obviously came together quite quickly for them, but there’s comfort in knowing how well the Royals take care of their players. There was a steady incline in progression once Ryan put the bat down. To his credit, he fell in love with the weight-room and followed the prescribed programming from Jared Kennedy religiously. There’s low mileage on the arm with a repeatable delivery and minimal effort. Our organization is excited to watch how is career unfolds over the coming years”

The CPBL and the Canadian Premier Team and Staff wish Ryan the best of luck as he begins his professional baseball journey.
